The story that won't go away just took another interesting turn. Police in South Florida have erased the videotape of Mike Vick involved in a Jan. 17 altercation at the Miami-Dade International Airport. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution filed an open-records request the following day and were told to wait while the investigation was pending. When the State's Attorney's office announced on Jan. 22 that no charges would be filed, the AJC renewed its request for the video.
"Oops," the cops replied. "We erased it. Our bad. Sorry 'bout that."
Needless to say, the whole thing stinks. First Miami cops say this thing is going to take weeks -- they're busy chasing murderers and rapists. Then the whole thing is adjudicated within four days and material evidence is sent to the shredder.
If I'm living in Miami, I'm checking to see if police cruisers are sporting new tires next week.

Regardless of Vick's record as a person his record as a football player is exceedingly bad. He is not a coachable player and as his skills diminish he will become the problem and liability that Atlanta now faces. The coaches can diagram plays forever but if Vick continues to run all over the field and end up losing Atlanta will continue to lose to teams like the Detroit Lions. He is a receiver at best but the Atlanta fans love him. He also sells more jerseys than any other player. Add all of this up and it clearly shows that the poor decisions he makes in real life will continue to be covered up a-la the Miami Airport and the trick bottle play. The bottom line is that Atlanta will continue to be an 8-8 team while Vick stays there. Additionally, the top six teams in the league never had much dissension in the locker room, off the field or on the field. All of these factors clearly show what the chemistry should be for a winning team.

It is us fans who foot the entire bill for these players and for the coaching staff. Hopefully, the Atlanta Falcons will get the message that we don't need to see the like of Michael Vicks when we can support wholesome quarterbacks such as Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Brett Favre, Phil Rivers and numberous others who set much better examples and don't given the "finger" to those paying the salary. The Falcons have lost a loyal fan....How many more can they afford to lose and still run a franchise? Vick should go! He's a lousy quarterback and a danger to everyone!!

Brett Favre is wholesome?? He was an avid drinker while in Atlanta, and early years in Green Bay. He was addicted to pain killers. He is a habitual trash talker, as is Vick.I love Brett, but c'mon. Try getting some receivers and a line that can pass block. The defense is terrible, and should be much better. Vick runs around because he has d-lineman in his face if he doesn't. Give me a break

Here is the official off the record, record. Take my word for I work for a TV station in Atlanta, and talk to the head sports anchor everyday. The residue that was found was left from Marjuana, but it was in so small of traces that Miami Dade County Police knew it would hard to get a conviction. Especially, because Vick would have such good lawyers on his side.

Do the Miami police department and Michael Vick think we are so stupid? Why would Vick have a secret compartment in the bottle just for the heck of it? I don't think so! There had to be something in the bottle besides water to account for the brown particles. Personally, I am fed up with these sports figures getting outlandish salaries and then act like they are not accountable to anyone. If not for the fans, where would any of them be? This last incident with Michael Vick stinks to high heavens.

Yes, it smells like Mr. Blank may have encouraged the police to reconsider proceeding against his $100,000,000 investment, I mean quarterback. What bothers me somewhat about the tone of the emails is the link between Vick's Falcon's win-loss record and the behavior he exhibits off the field. Are we saying that if he was a super bowl quarterback we'd be more likely to forgive him for marijuana possession? Are we especially angry at him because the Falcon's aren't a better team? Many football players are decent guys off the field. Others have felony convictions. These aren't good people just because they play football and entertain us. Some are good people, some aren't. My solution: Root for and appreciate the talent, not the man, unless he is as worthy of respect off the field as he is worthy of it for his athletic abilities and accomplishments.

OK! Here is the solution. Since this is such a thorn in everyone's side, stop going to the football games, stop buying the jersy, stop watching the games on tv. This way you're not contributing to the obscene salaries of the players or for the coaches (who by the way gets paid more than most of the players on the team), and you're not playing GOD by judging the players for every little stupid thing that they do. Oh, and by the way stop shopping at companies that pay their CEO's obscene salaries!!!!

Actually ya'll, that was not really Michael Vick at the airport. Come up with all of the slanderous things you want to say about poor ole Mike. It's just not true......the real identity of the man in the airport with the weedless weed compartment was none other than Ron Mexico!!!

I really don't like the comment made by the gentlemen that said Mr. Vick was "just being black". Sir, I'll have you know that his behavior is no what we all do. Many celebraties get away with stuff everyday. Race had nothing to do with and if he is guilty, sooner or later he will be caught. But before you make another racist comment, think about how he works for. Then think about some of the mistakes made by white and black a like. JUST LEAVE RACE OUT OF IT!!!!

I used to coach for about 20 years and finally got out of it because of the models in the pros that kids look up to and how they all thought that they should be able to get away with just about anything because they were athletes. Even the ones that weren't any good thought that they should be treated special and act like fools getting drunk and using drugs. I'm glad to be out of it and I was successful , however I got tired of everyone wanting special treatment and I didn't give it unless someone earned it and it had to be more than just on ability, it had to be of character also. I do the same thing now in the classroom and still kids don't think rules should apply to them and that they are completely on equal ground with adults that have paid dues in life and they just don't see why they should have to listen to anyone. They would just as soon go out and go as far as they can doing whatever will get them attention and try to cash in however they can.
Solution: Cap salaries in all professional sports where they have to earn bonuses like the rest of the world and lower ticket prices as it is entertainment and the show must go on but at the prices it is going, I'm curious as to how many years it will continue since General Motors and many other companies are struggling in the USA and people all over are losing jobs as companies are leaving the country for locations where they can pay less for services and employees. Who will be able to afford to support the game when everyone is out of work? Food for though!!!! Save the country and return sports to what it was meant to be enjoyable at a price all can afford. How many cars, houses, mistresses, etc. does a professional athlete need?

As they say, bad publicity is better than no publicity.Too bad there are kids (and adults)that think of Vick as a "hero". Now it seems he's become a hero and a victim. A hero because of his "talent" and a victim because of his "race". Forget the pictures in the newspaper- he's headed straight to the front of a "Wheaties" box.
