Lions WR Roy Williams was recently added to the 2007 Pro Bowl roster, as a replacement for veteran Rams WR Torry Holt. Williams is the only Lions participant in the Pro Bowl this year.
Williams led the NFC with 1,310 receiving yards. He had 82 catches, of which 24 were for more than 20 yards, which also led the NFC. Williams was a deserving candidate for the Pro Bowl, but his 7 TD catches and the general poor performance of the Lions in 2006 may have led to him being passed over as a Pro Bowl candidate.
Williams' performance was one of the few organizational bright spots for the Lions this year. Hopefully, with an added off season of preparation, Williams will continue to build upon his great natural gifts and benefit from his expanded understanding of the complex Mike Martz passing scheme. If the Lions are able to re-sign Mike Furrey, and add a consistent third wide receiver, the sky's the limit for Williams.
