Yes Cardinals fans, it is true. Mike Sherman will be named the Cardinals new head coach at some point this week and possibly as early as today according to Pro Football Talk. No specifics on the contract were mentioned and based on the reputation of that site there is still a slight possibility that this is not 100% accurate. All signs were pointing to Sherman taking over however and we all assumed that he would eventually. After the last few days it should really come as no surprise. Actually, just because the Bidwill's are owners it should come as no surprise.
But like I said earlier today, Sherman isn't as bad as some fans make him out to be. The guy knows offense and the guy knows winning. Two things the Cardinals desperately need. Now as long as they patch-up their defense and Sherman doesn't fall asleep at the combine again, they are on the right path.
I know Sherman isn't the ideal choice but he is a step-up from Dennis Green and has a lot to prove.

Dude, this news sucks. Sherman was an okay coach with the Packers...but he was horrendous at selecting and signing talent.
Why do the Cardinals ALWAYS do this? Here comes another decade of mediocrity.

This has got to be the WORSE organization in all of sports.. This is a sad, sad hire if its true..I'd rather of let Denny stay for another year. Ron Rivera would of been a better choice but the Cardinals are too impatient to wait til after the Bears go to the Superbowl..I Think it was shown in New Orleans this year what a younger coach can do with today's players. Rivera would of been ideal with a good offensive coordinator..because you know the offense will do its part..but the Defense is what needs some motivation.. its too bad for you 10-15 Cardinal fans now that the talents of Leinhart, Fitz and Boldin will all go to waste..

Sorry Ryan, it's worse than you think. I'm an avid Packer fan and I can tell you that not only is Sherman horrible in the talent assessment category, he is a TERRIBLE game coach (not unlike Dennis Green). For example, you may recall that the Sherman-coached Packers lost a playoff game to the Eagles because the Eagles converted on 4th and 28 at the end of the 4th quarter-how better to defend 4th and 28 then to have your linebackers drop back 30 yards? Not only that, Sherman made numerous bonehead calls in that game that gave it away. And he did the crap regularly.
Plus, rumor has it that he's a humorless micromanager.

Another Packer fan here, ...Sherman has some great coaching qualities, no doubt. His biggest weaknesses were 1. selecting/signing talent 2. hiring a weak staff 3. alienating key players 4. firing those who disagreed with him 5. Complete inability to adjust. Expect to see mistakes repeated over and over again. But his teams usually played well. Let's put it this way, ...he can get his players to play well, but in the end, he's his own worst enemy.

Sherman will succeed in Arizona. He can coach and he knows how to win. He, like Mike Holmgren are not general managers. It will be interesting to see who he picks as his O and D coordinators. There are some good candidates to pick from.

Com'n he has had only had ONE losing season. And the Packers rebounded this seaon again. (by the way, with his picked talent) Even the Tuna has had a losing season. And What about Joe Gibbs??? Or Nick Saban or Steve Spurirer? Noe are current "Heroes" in the NFL,and look at their contracts now!
Plus, in reality, it is the General Manager's job to select the talant for the team. The coach is suppose to coach them. So, don't give him both jobs.
However, ever year Sherman was the GM his Packer teams made the play-offs, except for one.
You are reading too much media hipe. Get your own opinion,............ not echo someone elses!!!
He is a good coach.
Plus, he is the only one out there with a winning record, with Pro experience that isn't a Head Coach right now.

Back in the day the Cardinals hired Dennis Green because he knew offense and how to win. 8 playoff appearances in 10 years.
I think most anyone could of won with Brett pulling the trigger. And over the years the Cards have had some great players also.
Obviously you cant and wont win in the NFL if you are 10 or so million under the cap almost every year. Id like to say poor Cardinals except for the fact that winning isnt important to the Bidwells nearly as much as adding an extra 10 million to the familys account. What coach can win any games with both hands tied behind their backs, no support from the top,and having to make an appointment a week in advance just to be told make due with what you have cause thats all we're spending as the Bidwells admire the new stadium with a name of a school thats almost bankrupt?
And who but Bill would even make such a deal? And Sherman had the nerve to say "this team is committed to winning"?
He must want to be a head coach again so much that he'd say the Cardinals are committed to winning without even a lil cracking a sly grin. I feel for Matt, Boldin, Fitz, and would ask the Edge, "What was you thinking"? Good thing my tv gets the Steelers.
