Denver Broncos Cornerback Darrent Williams Dead at 24

Sad news out of Denver, where Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was shot and killed early on New Year's Day. Williams was 24.

Williams had been at a nightclub and was shot while sitting in a limousine shortly after leaving, near 11th and Grant in Denver. Police called the incident a drive-by shooting, saying a vehicle pulled up next to the limousine and someone from that vehicle shot into the limousine and drove off.

Williams was the Broncos' second-round draft pick in 2005 after a successful career at Oklahoma State. He had been Denver's starting cornerback since early in his rookie year.

A woman in the limousine with Williams was also shot. The woman's identity and condition have not been released. Reports are unclear, but a third person may have been shot as well.
