The fact that the Vikings have struggled through a 6-9 season -- highlighted by Childress refusing to replace 38-year-old quarterback Brad Johnson while he played some of the worst football of his career -- didn't exactly endear him to fans. And it was some of Childress's coaching philosophies that didn't endear him to his players. Upon his arrival last spring, the head coach introduced a "culture of accountability" following the sex boat scandal extravaganza from a season ago. So when Koren Robinson was arrested for DUI earlier this season, Childress released him. On Christmas Eve, Childress released wideout Marcus Robinson -- the team's touchdown reception leader -- but the coach's motives still aren't clear.
Robinson insisted that communication was his biggest issue with Childress. The receiver said he didn't know whether he was playing until he saw his shoulder pads in his locker on game days.Other players have voiced similar concerns. To Childress' credit, he created a veterans committee made up of 10 players. The group meets every Wednesday with the coach to talk about "the week's schedule" and to get feedback and suggestions.
Safety Darren Sharper, who was on a similar committee in Green Bay, thinks it's a good idea, but the groups' biggest achievement this season is getting chicken tenders added to the menu on the team's charter flights. And there's this:
...in addition to chicken tenders as an alternative to hamburgers on the airplane, [linebacker E.J.] Henderson said Childress also allowed them to have catered food on Fridays laid out on tables in the locker room instead of in the cafeteria. The veterans committee might want to hire a lobbying firm for future negotiations. Seriously, this kind of stuff only gets reported when a team is in the tank. If Minnesota was 10-5 and in the playoffs, we'd be reading about how discipline saved the Vikings from themselves. Just goes to show that there's a very fine line between winning and losing in the NFL. But hey, the Vikes will always have the chicken tenders.

I REALLY DO NOT LIKE COACH CHILDRESS AT ALL. WE DID BETTER WITH DENNY GREEN AND MIKE TICE. THE COACH HAS TO GET ADVICE FROM THE VETERAN PLAYERS. AND PLEASE, TAKE THE PLAY CALLING AWAY FROM HIM. HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS DOING. I HEARD SOMEONE ON TV SAY THAT THE VIKINGS SHOULD OFFER BRAD JOHNSON THE JOB OF OFFENSIVE CORDINATOR. I THINK THAT IS A FABULOUS IDEA. NO ONE KNOWS FOOTBALL LIKE BRAD JOHNSON. AND LET HIM CALL THE PLAYS. I HOPE THEY FIRE CHILDRESS BUT I KNOW THEY WON'T. IF THINGS DON'T CHANGE, NO PLAYER WILL WANT TO PLAY ON OUR TEAM. PLEASE AT LEAST TALK TO BRAD ABOUT THE OFFER OF THE JOB. I AM A DIE HARD VIKING FAN BUT I'M EVEN GETTING EDGY ABOUT ALWAYS LOSING. CHIDRESS DID A TRRIBLE JOB AS COACH. PRETTY SOON NO ONE WILL COME TO THE GAMES. AS IT IS, THE FAN'S ARE GIVING AWAY THEIR TICKETS. PLEASE MR. WILF, OFFER BRAD THE JOB. THANK YOU. A VIKING FAN.

he's an offensive idiot, he needs to hire an offensive coordinator,(one that actually called plays before), allow whoever is the qb to call audibles at the line, and just oversee the off. and def. sides of the ball...if not the vikes wont win until he's out!!!

I think the coach is horrible. Atleast thats what I have seen so far. I understand that as fans we cannot expect a new coach to come in and win the super bowl , but what about a winning record and saving atleast one key player? Yeah maybe Mike Tice did not have control, but he was headed in the right direction. Brad Childress, dumps all the good ballers and says hes in control. These guys have $ and attitudes so yeah, it's easy to control a team by getting rid of your stars. I would honestly prefer to have DC & Moss back along with bennet versus a 6-11 season with a washed up Brad Johnson. Disgusted. I am supporting this team from out of state and once again i am looking like a damn fool. Thanks ZIGI. Take some notes from Steinbrenner...PLEASE!

Send Brad Johnson to the retirement home and get some decent receivers. Troy Williamson...take some advice...Learn to catch the ball and you will be half as good as Randy Moss.

Whoa....Jake. You would rather have Daunte back. Whos going to hold his hand? Scott Linnehan is in St. Louis. Perhaps you should apply for a motivator job wherever Daunte ends up.
