So here's the situation: you're a third-year coach who has a short week to prepare for a nationally-televised game that will define your team's season and, to a lesser extent, your coaching ability. What do you do?(a) lock yourself in the practice facility and study game film
(b) curl up in a fetal position and crap your pants
(c) go on a radio program and say you want a different job
How dumb is Jim Mora Jr.? Given the stakes, he has no business acting as if he's part of some zany Morning Zoo crew in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Now he has to spend even more time going on all the local radio and television stations, backing away from his earlier claim. More distractions an already unfocused team doesn't need.
Maybe it's for the best. Let both Mora and Greg Knapp go muck around in the Pac-10, continuing its proud history of mediocre football. And anyway, I think deep down most fans would agree that if the Falcons do win against Dallas on Saturday, it won't be because of the coaching staff but in spite of them. Given the leadership, we've come to understand sometimes you've got to overcome coaching.
You can listen to the interview here. Tell us if you think he's kidding.

Reeves never managed to win a Super Bowl with the great John Elway as quarterback; there is no reason to think he'd have won one with Ron Mexico at quarterback. That said, Mora Jr. is a dumbass.

I liked Jim, but I can't beleive how dumb he was with his statment.
I really thought he was a good coach and a good modivater.
What he has done is not going to help the team at all. I can't believe he said that.

If Jim E. Mora does quit the Falcons job then it runs in the family his father Jim L. Mora quit his job with the New Orleans Saints during the bye week some years ago after that Einstein owner gave him a contract extension. Television network job calling? Iris quick get the Duran coffee ready.

Vick apparently is a prophet. He foretold it. Now we know what he meant by the "sometimes you have to overcome coaching" comment.

Jim is a dumbass. As a person who lives in Atlanta I can tell you first hand, Blank better fire his arse soon or he's gonna lose the rest of the already fleeting fan base. (Hoping for Reeves back as head coach!)

In reading all the comments regarding the Falcons I definitely concur ----More discipline is needed .Vicks behaviour alone is despicable - to pay him hundreds of millions and allow him to run with one hand on the ball is inexcusable management . Besides his attitude stinks . The team needs a damn drill sergeant type coach who does not put up with all this molly coddling nonsense
If they want to win big get real or Arthur - needs to get tough
He is a fair man but there is nothing wrong with setting a demanding pace
Go for it Falcons -bring it back!!!!!

GET DAN REEVES BACK NOW!!! Vick was awesome under his coaching. Get taller and much better skilled receivers for Vick because he can't physically see them; he's not tall. If not, Schaub will be suiting up in the number one spot while Vick's running the ball! Give Warrick Dunn his due; if everyone on the team played w/ his passion and skill, we'd be unstoppable. But I'm just a chick ... I don't know anything!

Yes Jim messed up. I would fire him too! My choice for head coach is simple. Half the college coaches in the nation go to him for his offense clinic! Get Rich Rodriquez!!!!!!! Have you seen the way his spread offense runs! Stop listening to the critics wanting him to throw for 300 yrds a game! This is a no brainer, Or get Dan Reeves back!
#1 Shaub will never get them to the playoff! Be real! New offense, not mobile! He would be looking at a 3 year learning curve!

I'm with you guys. Mora is a complete "DUMB-ASS"
That said, Dan Reeves to me was an great head coach and leader. The only Atlanta head coach to take the Falcons to the Superbowl. But,
and I must remind all of you that Reeves was really lax on the players in Miami at Superbowl. The team had no over-site at all, and players ran wild. I believe Dan Reeves learned a hard lesson over that mess. Nu-ff said on that matter. Mora is still a "DUMB-ASS"!! Glad he is gone.
I'll tell you one thing. I would welcome Dan Reeves back with open arms.
And for you older guys like me: Hell, I would welcome back Leeman Bennett right now. Ha ha ha.

It is unfortunate in this day and age that people of stature lower themselves to such antics in order to create what is at best extremely poor humor. Those people who he has committed himself to should never have to suffer the consequences of his poor choice.
