I bet that was the last thing you expected to hear when you got up this morning. Could Jake Plummer possibly return to the Arizona Cardinals to back-up Matt Leinart in 2007? The idea isn't as far-fetched as it may seem. According to Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic it's a very real possibility."The former Valley golden boy would likely be open to holding the clipboard in Arizona, spending the rest of his career backing up [Matt] Leinart." -BickleyIt's clear that Plummer's days in Denver as a starter are over, so if he's going to be a back-up why not be one in Arizona? Plummer has never gotten anything but bad media in Denver. Despite his 40-18 record as a Bronco it always seemed like they were waiting to replace him.
With Kurt Warner thinking retirement the Cardinals would be in need of a veteran back-up anyway, so the chips may be falling into place. Plus, the last time the Cardinals actually went to the playoffs and won a game was with Plummer at the helm.
I say if he wants to return, bring him in. Bring him back to the home of his "glory days" as some Cardinals fans call it. Bring him back to the place where he started his NFL career and allow him to end it here tutoring Matt. It seems like an ideal situation for both Plummer and the Cardinals organization.

Sure send him to AZ so he can flip off the fans down there just like he did in Denver. And one can hardly wait for him to have some road rage against one of AZ's finest senior citizens - hold on to your golf carts folks. And just maybe he can tutor Matt on the proper way to throw an interception. Jake couldn't complete a pass while throwing out of the pocket and Matt can't run out of the pocket so is this really a tutoring match made in heaven? I don't think so. The reason Jake never fit in in Denver was because he didn't want to. You never heard of any thing he did for the community after the season was over. Don't blame that on the media. Sure he did a lot for the Tillman's and I respect that wasn't in Colorado.

After growing up in Colorado through the Elway years I have to say that I love Plummer. Elway was such a jock and a bit of a douche. Plummer was a dirty sleave ball and I love him for it. I am excited for Cutler because I generally get excited for new things, not better things. I'll miss you Jake!

You know what!?! Denver fans make me ill! They are more snobby than Cowboy fans! They want to ride Jake out of town for having a better winning percentage than their revered "God" John Elway. By the way, it took him 14 yrs. to win his first |Super Bowl!As for Dan Bickley's "insight" on Jake coming back to Phoenix. Why should he hold a clipboard for |Matt Leinart? I count approx. 10 teams that will need a starter like Jake next year...including Da Bears! Give the guy a break! He makes the Pro Bowl last year and has an off year, largely due to a poor running game and everybody thinks he's done. You people make me throw-up!

Jake-you've been treated poorly by Denver. The fans, the media, the frickin commentators and by Shannahan. You've been the best QB since Elway. If a team can't win after you put 20 points on the board, whose fault is it? Yours??? No. Why does the Denver defense give up 7-20 points EVERY THIRD QUARTER SINCE 1975????????????? You're the man Jake. I wish you the best next year and hope you stay in Denver, but know you deserve to be on the field putting points on the board.
P.S. other players in the league should learn from Jake on how to play the game with focus and heart-not showmanship and hype.

I' am Broncos fan ever since I can remember seeing football (mid 1973.) No we are not snotty stuck ups like the Cowboys fans. one look in the stands will show you that. ask Lincoln Kennedy how that snowball tasted at the end of a cold monday night game. Dallas fans wont even go out in the snow much less go cheer for their team when 10 below. I was excited the first day I heard Plummer was coming to Denver. Griese had no arm. I remember seeing Jake chuck the ball at the QB challenge in Hawaii some 81 yards. Jake DID get SCREWED by Shanahan. He had less talent around him than Elway and was expected to do more. Last year we had a running game. this year we dont and shanny took plays and more players away from Jake and just ask Bubby Brister Mike has a new toy he will find a away to look smarter to get them in the game. Sorry Jake This FAN SAYS YOU GOT SCREWED! I hope Gary Kubiac in Houston picks you up and you get back to playoffs. they have good receviers will probably get a back this year and Playoffs you go and IF the Broncos get lucky enough to get a wildcard with youngster Revenge will be JAKES!! A Lot of Fans feel this way too! Jake Plays with heart thats more than 95% of the league.

Jake, hmmm where should you go, this will be the big story during the off-season. Arizona will maybe be interested in you, but only as a back-up. I'm thinking there's still a team out there that will want him as a starter though. Go Jake!!! Denver Bronco's fans are snob's, good for nothing, do not support anyone until they've won a super bowl. Sorry, but that's not how it works Denver, good riddance..may Jake give them ALL THE FINGER!!!

I have been a Bronco Fan For the past 21 years.I am very upset with our fans. Jake has heart and guts and Shanahan screwed Jake and the City of Denver by ousting Jake.Sure Cutler may be the future but i see another Griese.7-4 headed towards the playoffs and our QB is on the bench. That being said Jake i am with you and believe you could have given us abetter chance to win through the playoffs.I am frustrated and angry at Shanahan for screwing up the fans and players season.Just admit you made a mistake Mike.Put Jake on the feield let him roll out and take us to the Super Bowl.

Jake,I hope that the team that gets you is smarter than the Broncos and the FANS, I have been a Bronco fan for my entire life and yes I mean my whole life my Mom was a cheerleader for the Broncos, and I have never been this sick from such a stupid move like taking Jake out in the middle of the season. Go Jake Go I will always be a Jake fan and a Bronco fan.

Dear God. Please bring back the man that brought us to the Playoffs for the first time in my life. Here he will be welcomed with open arms, back in wonderful, warm Arizona. I am and will always be a true fan of Jake Plummer. When I was at ASU in 1992, Jake had a small talk about life for no reason at all he was waiting for someone outside the class room. But as simple and sincere that it was, he began to tell me that things were coming at him fast and how there is lots of pressures at being the main QB. I have never talked to him again since that day and our talk has been with me ever since. School, Military, Married life and the now, I will continue to support at what ever team he goes and whatever he does because Jake is my hero and no one can take that away from me.

Jake Plummer should go to a team that is gritty and willing to take chances. Denver will fall to 5-11 next year with or without Plummer. Denver is no longer a good team and I don't see much changes over the off season. Plummer could be one of the greatest QB's ever if on the right team. Going to Denver was a huge mistake since it will take about 50 years for anyone to get out of Elway's shadow. Never fallow a giant. Plummer should go to a team where he doesn't have to linger in anyone's shadow, so Texans, Raiders, Bucs or Lions. He could be great in Detroit.
