Jake Plummer to Return to AZ in 07?

I bet that was the last thing you expected to hear when you got up this morning. Could Jake Plummer possibly return to the Arizona Cardinals to back-up Matt Leinart in 2007? The idea isn't as far-fetched as it may seem. According to Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic it's a very real possibility.

"The former Valley golden boy would likely be open to holding the clipboard in Arizona, spending the rest of his career backing up [Matt] Leinart." -Bickley
It's clear that Plummer's days in Denver as a starter are over, so if he's going to be a back-up why not be one in Arizona? Plummer has never gotten anything but bad media in Denver. Despite his 40-18 record as a Bronco it always seemed like they were waiting to replace him.

With Kurt Warner thinking retirement the Cardinals would be in need of a veteran back-up anyway, so the chips may be falling into place. Plus, the last time the Cardinals actually went to the playoffs and won a game was with Plummer at the helm.

I say if he wants to return, bring him in. Bring him back to the home of his "glory days" as some Cardinals fans call it. Bring him back to the place where he started his NFL career and allow him to end it here tutoring Matt. It seems like an ideal situation for both Plummer and the Cardinals organization.
