Each week we'll look at the players who would have the best shot at the league MVP award if the season ended right now.1. Peyton Manning, quarterback, Colts: He was already at the top of the MVP list, then he has to go out and turn in maybe the best game any player in the league has had this year, making this a rather boring discussion. He's so far ahead of the rest of the league that as we near the halfway point, there's not really a good argument for anyone else to be the MVP.
2. Damon Huard, quarterback, Chiefs: It just seems crazy to have this guy in this discussion, but Huard keeps playing like a star. If Trent Green hadn't gotten hurt, Huard might never have had a chance to be an NFL quarterback.
3. Donovan McNabb, quarterback, Eagles: Don't let the Eagles' 4-4 record fool you. This is a good team, and McNabb is a great player. Manning is the only quarterback in the league who has been more productive this year, and McNabb doesn't have the high-quality receivers that Manning has.
4. Julius Peppers, defensive end, Panthers: He had a quiet Sunday night against Dallas, but Peppers is still the best defensive player in football. (Note: San Diego's Shawne Merriman would probably get this spot were it not for his looming steroid suspension.)
5. Tiki Barber, running back, Giants: He's the best player on a first-place team and leading the league in rushing yards. Every team should have such distractions.

Who ever saiad Mcnabb does not have as good of recievers as Manning must not what Football on Sundays. Mannings recievers dropped five of his seven incompletions, one other was off a recievers fingertips and the other the reciever failed to get both feet down. 5 of the seven should have been completions and the other two could have been. Another game of Mannings this year I saw over 150 yards of completions dropped by his recievers, including two by Marvin himself. With Mannings touch there is no reason to drop the ball.

I personally have to admire and appreciate how the general NFL fanbase in particular rushes out to hand Tom Brady that precocious "Greatest Qb in The Known Universe" title, after he went out and had an awe inspiring performance against the -gasp-...Vikings. Peyton goes out, shreds a LEGITIMATE defense in Denver's, and still can't catch a break. Peyton Manning is hands down, the best quarterback to play the game today, in the history of, and possibly of all time. Mention the three rings, and i'll mention the fact that nearly that entire Patriots squad eventually DID leave for the cash, and that THATS what won them Super Bowls. Keep in mind that the Patriots also play in that Kick-Ass division known as the AFC (L)East. Peyton doesn't have to win games, in fact he doesn't have to do any more than he possibly has. Until that defense learns to hold onto the leads he sets for them in big games, they won't see the light of day in Super Bowl land. I have to think though, that adding a former Super Bowl MVP to the kicking game doesn't hurt ;)

Brown, Reggie
Baskett, Hank
Discussion, End of
Though at this point, I'd probably vote for Mr. Manning, myself.

How about Urlacher? The guy is the reigning defensive player of the year, and he just keeps getting better. He has the ability to change the game enitrely and does whatever is necessary to win games. He can play literally every position which makes me wonder why Chicago didn't put him in at QB for the Arizona game. Hopefully everyone else will see that Brian is exactly what you though he was - the best all around player in the NFL.
