Let's face it. Heading into last Sunday, not many Seahawks fans expected to come out of Kansas City with a win, and none expected Seneca Wallace to throw for three touchdowns in the game.
It was the classic "no pressure" situation, with very low expectations on the Wallace-lead Seahawks, and a lot of help from the sloppy play of the statistically superior opposition. And after having a ride on the emotional roller-coaster that was the last 6 minutes of that game, I almost would be happier if Kansas City won in a blow-out, like they should have.
Deep down, I'll be Seneca Wallace does too.
Now, the tables have turned 180-degrees, and given the "near miss" in KC, there's nothing but great expectations on Seneca Wallace heading into the Monday Night Football game with the Raiders.
First off, the game is at Qwest Field, where the Seattle 12th Man is used to seeing the Seahawks win. We'll need every Hawk fan in the crowd to have a HawkHeart, and resist the urge to boo the home team should they give up a long play or fall behind.
They'll be playing the lowly Raiders, our hated rivals from the AFC West days, who are on a surprising two-game win streak thanks to an opportunistic defense, that has been the Viagra to their a flaccid and impotent offense. Kind of like the Seahawks, only in reverse.
They're also playing on Monday Night, in the national spotlight, and may very well be fighting to maintain their half-game lead in the NFC West, depending upon the Rams fair on Sunday against the visiting Chiefs.
Lastly, there will be no Easter-like return of the chosen one, as Shaun Alexander is likely to miss this game, still waiting for the doctors to deem his broken foot healed. Still no word from God on why he seems to be screening the MVP's prayers.
If we think that Seneca Wallace exhibited grace under pressure last Sunday, we ain't seen nothing yet! With the Seahawks already favored up to 9 points by Vegas, the pressure is definitely on our diminutive signal caller.
Seneca Wallace, are you ready for some football?

Hey....your Seahawks better not look past the Raiders, they might just get ya.
Looking forward to the game in Seattle by the way, win or lose, going to make a mini vacation out of it so should have a good time. Bringing my newest addition to the family (my new laptop) so I can report on everything for the first time right from Seattle.
Despite all the ribbing you give us over on the Rams blog...hope we run into you just to say hello.

I fully agree, but I think Seneca can handle the preasure. I think that the Raiders, being one of the lower skilled teams in the NFL, will be a good opportunity for Seneca to get a little more settled into the hot seat and prepare to handle the offence until Matt can twist his leg the right way again.

Patti - the trash talk is all in good fun. Looking forward to meeting you and the Watchdog at the game.
Until then, we have to take care of the Raiders, and you have a date with the Chiefs. Tell your defense that we tried not tackling Larry Johnson, and that doesn't work too well!
Can't wait for the 12th.

Eddie, Seneca went to Iowa State. He was one of the hot favourites for Heissman Trophy in 2002 season when the Cyclones were ranked all-time high 9th place in the Poll before 3 consecutive defeats against Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas State hurt his chance. The team then regressed, including getting beaten by Div.1-A then UConn when he threw 3 ints. He got injured in the Humanitarian Bowl too, which makes his draft position a little bit weak (besides the classic question of his height)
