Does it really come as a surprise to anyone that Edgerrin James' lips are still moving after another horrid performance? For the last few weeks he's found anyone and everyone to place blame on other than himself and this week is no different. After a 13 carry 34 yard performance against the Oakland Raiders, James is starting to sound a little disappointed in his decision to join the Cardinals in the desert.
"I got a lot of warnings," James said when asked about coming to Arizona.
That's a great way to inspire your teammates and raise moral! Way to go James! Toss them oh so casually under that bus. The best thing he could do right now is finally accept some blame for the horrid rushing attack, but he is to
proud arrogant to do that. Instead he justifies giving up at the line of scrimmage.
"I'm just out there, trying to run, looking for somewhere to run and put it where I'm told to put it at," James said.
Well that's a tad contradicting, no? Looking for a place to run and running where you're told are two different things. In reality Edge just does not care anymore and he's
getting his paycheck either way so why bother? I am tired of hearing that it's just the offensive line; its not! This is on Edge and every week he fails it becomes more and more obvious.

Back in 2000-2001 I was working in St. Louis, and there was an African-American weekly that had an issue featuring Edge on its cover. It was a headshot of Edge, with a big grin showing all of his gold teeth. The headline?
"I ain't pretty, but I got 49 million bucks"
I think that says it all.

I guess Thomas Jones, Marcell Shipp and JJ Arington just didn't care anymore either. What a coincidence!

Zach - Edge is averaing 2.7 yards per carry.
In comparison, Thomas Jones never averaged lower than 3.3, not good but he wasn't making what? 14 million per year.
Shipp's worst tear was last year where he averaged 2.9 yards per carry. Still better than James and MUCH cheaper. He averages 3.7 yards per carry for his career with the Cards.
JJ Arrington last year, a ROOKIE, 3.3 yards per carry. This year on a very limited basis, 4 yards per carry.
You do the math.

Edge has to be the second worst back in the league (behind jamal lewis, but this aint about him). Edge is the definition of a "system back". He had ALL of his success in Indy because he was no where near as big a threat as Mr. Peyton and that passing game, so teams jus let him get his 4 or 5 yards here and there.
But i will give him this he took all those stats that he was able to compile, while living the life in indy, and cashed in. I doubt he'll ever have any success in AZ. The system jus doesnt fit his style of running (or lack there of).

Yeah, that's why he led the AFC in rushing his first two years in the league, and had two 1,500+ yard years in 2004-2005. He's running like crap because the offensive line is collapsing.

Like quarterbacks, running backs depend heavily on the offensive line, and the tweety birds don't have one. Until they fix that, they will never win. If Bidwell sold the team, a new owner might figure that out.

As a Colts fan, I find this somewhat comical. I guess he needed the Horse more than the Horse needed him. Another solid piece of business by the best owner/gm in football!

Edge will be missed about as much as Vanderjacht. Sure his numbers were great but when it came down to it, any solid back could get the job done. Joseph Addai (rookie back) is averaging 5.7 yds a carry and will have people saying, "Edgerrin who?" by the end of the season. AND!!! without a shitty attitude and focus on $$$$
Bill Polian = Greatest GM in NFL in the last decade

Brand new stadium, new uniforms and...same old Cardinals...Riddle me this, all you people saying that Green has to go, the offensive line can't block, etc....while all that may be true, consider this:
Since moving to Az almost 20 years ago, the Redbirds have had one...count 'em up....one winning season. They certainly weren't anything special in St. Louis or Chicago either...Lots of coaches have come and gone...Lots of players have left and went on to have lucrative careers elsewhere...(remember when Simeon Rice and Garrison Hearst wore that stupid bird on the side of their heads?)
What hasn't changed? What has been consistent in ALL the years of losing? Ownership, that's what....As long as the Bidwells own this "team" (and by the way prefer to pocket the 10 million that they're under the cap instead of invest it in a few halfway decent O linemen) this franchise will continue to lose...The Bidwells aren't concerned with winning...they're concerned with getting rich...period.
I live in Az, but will NEVER cheer for the Redbirds as long as the Bidwells have ANYTHING to do with them...I root against them every chance I get...After all, growing up in the Bay Area and being a die-hard Niner fan I have every reason to root against a division opponent...The Niners may not be very good right now, but at least we weren't cheap when we were...We understood that the glory and respect earned from winning 5 Super Bowls outweighed the personal pocket book of the owner...and with winning came riches...The Bidwells don't have a clue and never will...for the sake of Redbird fans, do them a favor and SELL THE TEAM!
SAME OLD CARDINALS!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Kris is absolutely correct. I lived in ST.Louis when the Cards were there. The Bidwells didn't have a commitment to winning there and that's why they were basically run out of town. No one would support a team that didn't even try to put a winning team on the field. Everyone thought what suckers Az. was. Look what the BIdwell's are doing now. Just sucking you dry.
