Oakland had a sellout crowd who witnessed the team squander an 18-point lead on Sunday, and they should all be ashamed of themselves. The Raiders have serious flaws and are in need of help. But if you purchase tickets to a Raiders game, then you a part of the problem. The Raiders have become a punchline in the NFL. But as long as crowds continue to roll into the MAC, there is no reason for the Raiders hierarchy to make a change. The Raiders need an intervention, yet the fans continue to enable the ineptitude of the Raiders by buying more tickets. Hell, the fans even bought the propaganda that Art Shell was returning to the Raiders sideline in an effort to bring back the "toughness" of the Raiders. Anybody still buying that right now? They must be because they are still buying tickets.
The only civil discourse afforded to the average football fan is to no longer purchase tickets. However, there are those who will say that it is important to support the team. True fans don't walk out on the team when the times are the toughest. That's true, but the Raiders need a steady dose of tough love right now. And they are not getting it.
The Raiders are like that pudgy little kid who spends his summer vacation indoors on the couch. Fans that purchase tickets are that parent who continues to shove donuts and Twinkies down the kid's throat, yet are surprised when the fire department is called in to knock down the bed room wall in order to get that kid out of the house once he swells up to 800 pounds.
Quit being that parent.
Until the Raiders fans demand change, more seasons like the past three are going to become the norm in Oakland. A Cincinnati Bengals for the new millennium if you will. It has to stop, but the first step is admitting you have a problem. Admit that you are enabling the Raiders to continue their Commitment to Mediocrity. Show the Raiders that you love them and stop buying tickets.

Bull crap! The Raiders played ball yesterday. Adam Rank is a hater, plain and simple! As for the fans, we are that, no matter win or lose. There are some who claim to be fans who turn to haters whenever a game is lost ... but the next game rolls around and uh, oh, they're fans again.

Adam - Here's a simple question for you.
1. Who is your favorite professional football team?
I suspect one of the following;
a) You don't have a favorite team (or won't declare one)
b) Your favorite team changes depending on how the wind is blowing
c) Your favorite team was (past tense) the Raiders but now you have become a full-time Raider Hater.
d) None of the above. You actually don't really enjoy professional football per se. You just enjoy being a negative @$$ clown.

Sorry, but Adam's right. When the Bears hired Abe Gibron, who was immensely popular but totally unqualified to be a head coach, and the Bears couldn't win more than four games/year and were embarrassing to watch, a bunch of us stopped going to the games. We did not stop cheering for the Bears. George Halas was saddened and embarrassed that the games didn't sell out, and he hired better coaches and front office personnel. This is the same thing the Raiders need.
