Paying Chad Johnson's Endzone Fines?

Text Size A A A
Chad JohnsonI'm sure that as Bengals fans we all love Chad Johnson's endzone antics, but there's a new website that wants you to pay up to see them. ,Keep 85 Alive promises to send your donations (or a portion of the money you spend on various items at the site) to Chad Johnson to help him pay his endszone fines.

Presumably, you know, because he might not dance this year with the NFL's "crackdown" on endzone celebrations.

I think these folks have their hearts in the right place ... sort of, but I'm not sure that Chad really needs their money. Guy made almost $5 million last year, and that's before getting paid for endorsements or for things like doing the Chicken Dance last Saturday. He's not exactly hurting for money.

And I'll admit to being a little cynical about the whole thing, since the whois records say that the Keep 85 Alive site is being run by an advertising firm. Only $5 from each $20 T-Shirt, and $1 from each $3 wrist band purchase is being donated to Chad, so hmmm:

1. Drum up sympathy for Chad Johnson having to pay fines
2. Sell some t-shirts
3. Profit!

I'll have to see how this one plays out, but it would've been a little cuter if it was actually being run by an obsessed fan.
