I'm sure that as Bengals fans we all love Chad Johnson's endzone antics, but there's a new website that wants you to pay up to see them. ,Keep 85 Alive promises to send your donations (or a portion of the money you spend on various items at the site) to Chad Johnson to help him pay his endszone fines.Presumably, you know, because he might not dance this year with the NFL's "crackdown" on endzone celebrations.
I think these folks have their hearts in the right place ... sort of, but I'm not sure that Chad really needs their money. Guy made almost $5 million last year, and that's before getting paid for endorsements or for things like doing the Chicken Dance last Saturday. He's not exactly hurting for money.
And I'll admit to being a little cynical about the whole thing, since the whois records say that the Keep 85 Alive site is being run by an advertising firm. Only $5 from each $20 T-Shirt, and $1 from each $3 wrist band purchase is being donated to Chad, so hmmm:
1. Drum up sympathy for Chad Johnson having to pay fines
2. Sell some t-shirts
3. Profit!
I'll have to see how this one plays out, but it would've been a little cuter if it was actually being run by an obsessed fan.

JD,
My crazed Bengals fan client sent me your link and was a bit hurt by the allegation that our company was behind Keep85Alive.com. We register 100's of domains for 100's of people in part to act as a buffer for spammers and sales calls. I assure you his motives are honest and genuine, and that's why he had us register the domain... so the attention would be on Chad and not the person behind this effort. As a Bengals fan myself, I think it's great. Sure he'll make some money off the deal, but he deserves something for his effort. He can be contacted directly through the contact link on his site.
Thanks,
Steve Mullin

I agree, this would be much more touching if it was just some obsessed fan. Chad isn't as broke as most folks who watch his dances on TV.

Lmao, Chad nice try by you and your partners, seems to me more of greed and ignorance, as the fans already help you by being in the stands, do not press your luck to think the fans are stupid, as it seems to me you and your partners are! Big mistake!Just play your game shut the mouth and support your team and staff!

I am a steelers fan myself but I think any person getting behind their team this much deserves a pat on the back. Hell I almost bought one just to set on fire cause I think the creator of this site deserves some cash for his efforts to keep the NFL (no fun league) in their place. If someone makes a few bucks at the same time as doing something creative like paying the fines for a player who keeps his fans happy then whats the problem? WHO DEY?? WE DAY!

Crazed fans..... HA! You people have obviously not been to Cincinnati in the past 2 years. Bengal pride is rampade in the Queen City... this website is just one example. It's not about paying Chad's fines, it's just merely a way to show love for our home team. GO BENGALS!

This is great! I think it's funny how all of you talk smack about Chad just because he made your DB's look like s**t. This is just another way Cincinnati appreciates what they have. All of you haters be sure to tune into the SuperBowl to see Chad!!!!!

Chad Johnson is the best showman in the the NFL and is making strides at being the best wide receiver. What he is doing for the league is what Ali did for boxing and what Ruth did for baseball. Anything that can be done to encourage his antics is good for the sport. I live in New York City and there are more Chad Johnson jerseys around than any Giant or Jets jersey. That's a big deal.

Mike,
Learn to spell GHETTO before you write it.
Kojo,
The quote is," He Is Nothing But A Cry Baby".
Spelling 101

Uh, hey jmarshall. Speaking of spelling 101, the correct way to formulate your quote would be with the period inside the quotation marks, like so:
The quote is, "He Is Nothing But A Cry Baby."
Just thought I'd let you know.
On the Johnson issue, I think it's stupid that the NFL's cracking down on celebrations. Let the players use some of that extra adrenaline in some sort of celebration, and decide exactly what you don't want players to do, like props, and make it a penalty. But banning all group celebrations is pretty ridiculous. Here in Denver for instance, the Mile High Salute (if they were still doing that) would be banned, and that's hardly an excessive celebration.

Before I even begin…
David - How in the hell do you know if the person running this is an obsessed fan?! You don’t! So if you want something more touching, go watch a lifetime movie!
Carleton – You obviously care about the dance and what Chad Johnson does, otherwise you wouldn’t have taken the time to read this article and put in your two crappy senses!
Mike – Why don’t you try shutting your mouth. You’re just jealous that Chad has more fans than you. Just like David, you have no idea whether Chad is in on this or not. I don’t think he needs to be greedy, can’t you read how all your buddies are crying because he has too much money and can pay his own fines! And why do you believe the fans would be “stupid”? If they bought a shirt? You don’t even make sense! Buddy, I think you are the stupid one. It sounds like someone has a little frustration because their home NFL team isn’t winning and the Bengals either already have or are going to KICK THEIR BUTT! And by the way…you don’t need to remind Chad to support his team and staff…he’s already done that!
Mike – No one wants your money anyway…you are obviously not a Bengals fan by the way you feel about Chad. So please don’t place yourself in our category as “we the fans”. You obviously are not! I agree with JMarshall…you’re the one that is ghetto, learn how to spell you hillbilly! Overpaid – no money…can’t you make up your mind. Let me help straighten you up!
Kojo – haha…he doesn’t want you to pay his fines anyway! You probably don’t even have the money to do so…hillbilly. Go to school and learn some grammar! (“isn’t nothing”, Cincinnati)
Anyone in their right mind knows that Chad Johnson has the money and can pay his fines. Its called support, loyalty, pride…obviously none of you all understand. If you don’t want to support, and you don’t care about Chad, then go find something better to do! (Possibly cheer on your losing team!)
GO BENGALS!! WHO DEY!!
