I'm sure that none of you want to read the entire Colts' draft history, so I'll keep it to their first round picks of the last 12 years.
Ok, so let's go through the list...
2006 (30) Joseph Addai: Obviously we don't know yet
2005 (29) Marlin
2002 (11) Dwight Freeney: Best DE in the league? Not even picked in the top 10...
2001 (30) Reggie Wayne: Besides LT, this was the steal of the 2001 draft. If it wasn't for Marvin he would be the #1 WR on one of the best teams in the league. Actually, he did have more catches then Marvin last year. Don't believe me? Look it up...
2000 (28) Rob Morris: Can we leave this one out? I almost didn't even put him in here in hope that you guys would miss it.
1999 (4) Edgerrin James:"BOOOO!! Over Ricky Willams?! What are you guys thinking?"
1998 (1) Peyton Manning: I don't even have to comment on this one. Ryan Leaf?
1997 (19) Tarik Glenn: Still one of the best tackles in the league
1996 (19) Marvin Harrison: In the year of the all-star WR's Marvin somehow slipped down to 19th
1995 (15) Ellis Johnson: 33 sacks with the Colts from 1995-2001
1994 (2) Marshall Faulk: One of the best RB's to play the game...when he was healthy.
(Note: The Colts didn't have a 1st round pick in 2004 but drafted Bob Sanders in the 2nd round...steal!)
What team could be better? Feel free to prove me wrong but I don't think you can.

Wow, you're right, that's a pretty amazing track record. Their genius is clearly unmatched. It's almost a shame the other 31 teams are forced into competing against the Colts and their braintrust.
Tell me again, how many Super Bowls did they win with these guys? Wait...none?

What does great drafting have to do with Super Bowls? It's 1 player. It's not a team. Please fill me in...If you want, tell me who has a better track record?

Dallas Clark is a fine TE, but top 5 in the league? Not close. To rattle off a handful of names off the top of my head, Gates, Heap, Shcckey, Cooley, McMichael, Crumpler, Witten, Gonzalez, are all easily better than Clark. And many others are around the same level.
And its easy to look good when you have two of the top WRs in the game, a top QB, RB, a good #3 WR.
But that doesn't take away too much from the point, Clark is still a fine TE and Colts have done a great job drafting

It is close Josh, I agree...However I would put him at #5. But then again that is just me and you can have your own opinion.
1. Gates
2. Shockey
3. Witten
4. Cooley
5. Clark
Heap is close at 5 also. Gonzo hasn't really shown much in the last 2 years.

Clark in the top 5? Dude, you're clearly an Indy Homer. His BEST year came last year--37 catches, 488 yards, 4 TDs. 14 guys had more yards, and 11 had equal to or greater TDs. Not only does that drop him out of the top 5, but also out of the top 10.
Yes, the Colts have pretty good drafts. Are they the best? I don't know. The first round equates to 1 round of the whole draft. There's usually 6 other picks, or more, depending on how far you want to go back. Chad Johnson went in round 2...Brady went in 6. Warner wasn't drafted, and he's got a couple more rings than Manning.
You could say round 1 is the easiest round not to mess up, unless you are the Chargers...

There is much more to a TE then stats. Blocking for your quaterback is one of them.

The colts may have drafted well over the last 12 years, but how many super bowls have they been to? You might want to investigate a little further, such as take a look at the Buffalo Bills drafts from 1985 through 1996. Over that period of time, the Bills did reach the super bowl four times consecutively. There is a common link between the Bill's teams from the mid '80's through the mid 90's and the Colts' teams from the later 90's through to the present... the general manger Bill Polian. Polian was the architect of the Bill's teams during the super bowl years, and he now has been the head man in Indy' for about the last 10 years. Both teams in their respective eras have been dominant. Indy will continue to do well for as long as Polian is in charge.
