Ex-'Bachelor' stud muffin and professional football quarterback Jesse Palmer has seen his NFL career come to an end ... again. After losing his New York Giants backup job to Jared Lorenzen a year ago, Palmer hit rock bottom Tuesday when the 49ers sent him packing in favor of Gibran Hamdan. You can question head coach Mike Nolan's coaching abilities, but no one can question his candor: "I didn't see Jesse making the final cut..."Well, there's not really much you can say when the coach lays it out like that. Related to nothing but peculiar nonetheless, according to Hamdan's NFL.com player page, he's 6'4", 220 pounds, but this story has him a full two inches taller and 20 pounds heavier. So which is it? Maybe a better question is: Who cares (well, other than me)? Maybe the only person interested in the true height and weight of the fourth-string quarterback for arguably the NFL's worst team is the 49ers student intern in charge of organizing San Fran's off-season pick-up basketball league.
As it stands, the 49ers' depth chart at quarterback looks like this: Alex Smith, Trent Dilfer, Shaun Hill and now Gibran Hamdan. This can't make Palmer feel good about himself, but on the upside, he can now just concentrate on being super dreamy without having to worry about any of that football stuff.

There are a lot of Seahawks fans who were pulling for Hamdan to make the squad. YOu guys got yourself a good 3rd string QB there, so at least you can be proud of something!

If Palmer would've taken the time to work on his QB fundamentals and techniques in general instead of going on these stuipid reality shows then he might have been somebody. What good is being tall and fit, w/out good skills. He reminds me of that tall NBA basketball player from Africa M. Bol (I think he was 7'6"). He was so tall and had people running a dunkfest on his head in practice and the real game. In life you either go all the way, or you don't try at all. Palmer is a perfect example of what happens when you don't put all your effort into some thing. He forgot that playing football in the the NFL is a job and a business. In the every day world if you can't produce, then the boss has no use for you and you will be replaced. That's what happend to Palmer.

OK, I'm no Jesse Palmer fan, but give the guy a break. He did something that only 1% of all college athletes get a chance to do....earn a spot on a professional team...and in the NFL at QB no less. Most detracters have probably never put a football uniform ON. I am sure there are a few players playing in overseas leagues that rank a little lower than he. I agree that he lost focus, and that is deadly in sports or in life. Worst player on the planet? Please.

Can't make the cut behind a kid (Alex Smith) who threw 1 touchdown to his 11 interceptions last year? That's pretty freakin' sad! Just goes to show you that football ain't for pretty-boys.

i would have to disagree, the worst player in the history of sports, and you can check his history,,, Robert Whaley from Benton Harbor mich, drafted to the Utah Jazz in the 2005 NBA selection, they labled him as a risk, and he proved all of his critics right, from his troubled child hood growing up in the projects of benton harbor mich, the gift of being found not guilty for a rape that took place in 2001, and even a bar fight in dec 2005, in which he and daron williams were sited tickets for giving false names to police officers,he was traded to the Toronto Rapters in june 2006, and waved, yes waved, how can you get waved from the 2005-2006 Toronto Raptors, a team that only won 18, i mean it, 18 out of 82 games now im not a fan at all of Mr Jessee palmer, but when you guys take that vote again on worst athlete on the planet, i think you should screen your candidates and runner ups more clocely,

Speaking of "Worst Player on the Plantet" within the NFL venue, what ever happened to Tim Couch formerly of the Cleveland Browns? Talk about a kid with somewhat talent, but dropped off the planet when he was released from Cleveland...
